Promote Food Security in Cameroon; Enhance Agricultural and Income Generating Skills in Rural areas

The proposed project aims to empower local farmers and promote sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices in Cameroon. By focusing on safe and nutritious food production, the project aims to improve the overall health and well-being of the local community while fostering environmental sustainability.

Through capacity building, knowledge transfer, and community engagement, the project will encourage conscious consumer choices and contribute to the development of a resilient and sustainable food system in Cameroon.

This project will also improve the contributions of the forestry sector to poverty reduction by increasing productivity on existing farmland with use of the Biochar technology and promoting of good governance of the Community Forest around the South West Region of Cameroon.

Biochar is locally produced; thus, its application reduces the need for inorganic fertilizers and ultimately reduces the financial cost of farm inputs. In the short term, this project will empower local farmers to be able to utilize biochar technology. In the medium term, it will improve agricultural productivity and farmer income. In the long-term, the project will improve soil health and reduce the rate of opening of new farms.
